ASSIGNMENT ONE: MODELING OF AN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
For this project, we are required to choose one building from available resources and to conduct research to gather necessary information such as plan, elevations etc. We are required to produce 3D model of a selected architectural design using 3DS Max, rhinoceros or both. For me, I had use rhinoceros to create the 3D model and use 3DS Max to put on the rendering. We do not need to put on materials and lighting in this project. Our work in progress need to upload to eportfolio.
Through this project, I had learnt how to draw a rhinoceros. I was a first time learner for rhinoceros and I had found it was hard to do. I had learnt from many of my friends and thank you for their teaching. It was the first time I draw a complex building. Next, I had learnt how to render my building in 3DS Max. Besides, I had learnt that time management is important in this project.

CLASS EXERCISE

For today class, we had learnt ahout the interior rendering. By using the daylight and camera, I learnt to create the effect of lighting in the interior.
Below is my rendering for Church of Light.
ASSIGNMENT TWO: EXTERIOR RENDERINGS WITH MATERIALS, LIGHTS, CAMERA VIEWS WITH SITE CONTEXT
This project is the continue of the Project 1. By using the same model from Project 1, we are required to add in materials, lights, cameras and site context for final rendering. I had chosen the materials: standing seam copper facade, metal frame, fly ash concrete, polished concrete, tempered glass, tin plate and so on. For this project, I had used Rhinoceros to edit the layers in my model, and transfer into 3Ds max for the rendering of materials and landscape, after that I transfer my model into Photoshop to enhance the visual outcome by adding landscape and trees.
Through this project, I had learnt how to use rhinoceros in advance. For example, the contour. Besides, this is the first time I used Photoshop to do my project and I found it was very interesting. By using this three software, I came out with my rendering successfully.

ASSIGNMENT TWO: INTERIOR RENDERINGS WITH MATERIALS, LIGHTS, CAMERA VIEWS WITH SITE CONTEXT
This project is the continue of the Project 2A. For this project, we are required to choose two interior spaces and render with lights and materials. I had chosen living room and study area for my building. I had downloaded the furnitures from internet and add into my interior spaces and then I render it by using 3Ds max. After put in the furniture and materials, and also house plants, I start to adjust the lighting and render it. Lastly, I send to Photoshop for enhance the beauty.
Through this project, I learnt how to choose furniture, plants, and etc. from internet and put into my spaces. I had learnt how to design my interior spaces to achieve comfortablity and aesthetic looking.

ASSIGNMENT THREE:A MAXIMUM 90 SECONDS ANIMATION OF THE COMPLETED 3D SCENES
This project is continue of Project 2, which completed scene is animated. We are require to use 3DS Max animation commands and tools, and also simple video editing work such as stitching video clips, background music and special effects editing, through the use of windows movie maker and etc. By using back Project 2, we are required to set up camera paths for animation rendering. For video editing, I had used Video Pad Video Editor. We are then need to upload our animation video to online animation video host and upload our work in progress in portfolio.
Through this project, firstly I had learnt to set camera path and render animation in 3DS Max. It had allow me to explore imagination, inventiveness and storytelling abilities when creating the animation. When doing animation, I learnt how to choose the best angle and promote my building through video and communicate my idea to others. Besides, this is the first time I do video editing. I found that video making is very interesting and I was proud when seeing my work can transfer from a plan to 3D model, and final product is in video format.

REFLECTION
Through this module, I had learnt a lot of things on computer software. Firstly, I had learnt how to build up a 3D model from plans and elevations, set contour, apply materials, create beautiful landscape and render it. For this semester, this is the first time I learnt how to use Rhinoceros and 3DS Max, and also video editing software. Due to some reasons, I had tried on the video making software such as Corel Video Studio x8, Iskysoft, Wondershare and eventually Video Pad Video Editor. It is quite challenging at first as this is my first try on digital. Now, I had improved a lot on my software skills and it will be useful in my future. Thanks to our lecturer, Mr. Koh Jing Hao for teaching and guiding us throughout this semester, and my friends and seniors that had helped me.
