For Task A which is the group project, we need to form a group of 5 and select a commercial/ residential building which allow us to experience and explore most of the building materials covered in this module. Our group had chosen to do on RT café which located in SS15, Subang Jaya. After we selected RT café, we are required to do research on the café. During the final submission, we are required to produce a mood board which reflects the materials used and ambience of the space without using any words or description. Besides that, we need to produce few boards that included plan, elevations and sections to indicate the materials, and explain the types of materials used. Lastly, we need to show the application of materials such as physical and chemical properties and suitability of materials used.

 

For Task B which is the individual project, I had chosen to do on Kwang Yeow Heng Importer & Exporter Sdn. Bhd., which is located in Jalan Kasturi, Kuala Lumpur. During my final submission, I need to produce one A2 board which included design intention and concept, space analysis and diagrams to support my analysis.

 

Learning Outcomes: 

Through this project, I was able to identify various types of building materials and effect of building materials in a space or building. I had acquired analytical skill in understanding selection of building materials for a building and also the appropriateness of the materials used. Lastly, I was able to produce a complete documentation and analysis of materials in respect to physical and chemical properties.
