ASSIGNMENT ONE: EXPERIENCING, DOCUMENTATION AND ANALYSING CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

For this project, we are required to form a group of maximum 10 persons and select ongoing construction site which visibly covers most of the subject topics covered in the syllabus. The selected site should be medium rise of low rise buildings. Our chosen site are Seri Kembangan and Bukit Semenyih. We are required to study and record construction of different building elements, and also identify different types of building elements and its construction process, details and materials. We had divided tasks among ourselves. My chosen topic was site safety and plants and machinery. We are required to produce A3 bound report compile with visuals, sketches and manual drawings inclusive of the detailing and documentation of the report. We need to submit both softcopy and hardcopy.

Through this project, I was understand and able to explain construction elements and its components. Besides, I had learnt the current construction technology on local construction sites. I was now able to explain current material and technology in relevant to present construction industry. This project introduce basic principles and procedures of construction process through real life project. Also, I had the opportunities to talk to the construction site person in charge. This was the first time to enter the construction site and I had learnt the rules and regulations that need to be followed. I had gain lots of new knowledge especially through the site visit on construction site.

ASSIGNMENT TWO: CONSTRUCTION DETAILS AND SPECIFICATION

For this project, it is a continuation of the first project- an integrated project where it involves construction detailing solution for Project 2B in Architectural Design Studio 2. Based on Project 2B studio, we are required to identify and propose three numbers of details for selected element of the building apart from providing the necessary plans, section and elevations. The three architectural detailing must cover the following design in studio project: roof, superstructure and joint and connection. We should emphasis in producing related manual construction drawings for steel or timber detail and specification. We are required to submit it in a A2 board.

Through this project, I had learnt to select suitable structural elements in design project. Besides, I had learnt how to design and apply a structural elements in my design project. I had learnt to apply suitable construction elements, materials and detail solutions suitable for specific design. I was able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of build ability. Next, I had demonstrate awareness of how building are developed in response to practical considerations. Lastly, I had improved my manual sketches skill, drawings and detailing relating to construction.
